DJI publishes free official LUTs on its download centre, one set per product. Open the downloads page for your exact model and look for the D-Log or D-Log M to Rec.709 file. The Osmo Pocket 3 and Osmo Action 4 also get a set of Rec.709 creative grading LUTs. Use the file for the camera that shot the clip, and apply it to the whole card at once rather than clip by clip.

You shot in D-Log M, the footage came off the card grey, and now you are searching for "DJI LUT" and finding a hundred packs for sale. The one you need first is free, and DJI publishes it. The trick is picking the file for your exact model, because DJI ships different files for different cameras and they are not interchangeable.

## Where does DJI publish its LUTs?

On the DJI download centre, under each product's downloads page. Open the page for your drone or camera and look in the software or LUT section for an entry named along the lines of "D-Log M to Rec.709". The same files appear on DJI's regional sites, so if one region's page does not show a file, another usually does.

Third-party sites mirror these files. Skip them, because the official file is free and a re-hosted one may be an older version.

## Which DJI LUT matches which camera?

At the time of writing, DJI's download pages list these for some of the most searched models:

| Model | Log profile | Official LUTs listed by DJI |
|---|---|---|
| Mini 4 Pro | D-Log M | D-Log M to Rec.709 |
| Air 3 | D-Log M | D-Log M to Rec.709 |
| Avata 2 | D-Log M | D-Log M to Rec.709 |
| Osmo Pocket 3 | D-Log M | D-Log M to Rec.709, plus a set of Rec.709 colour grading LUTs |
| Osmo Action 4 | D-Log M | D-Log M to Rec.709 vivid, plus a set of Rec.709 colour grading LUTs |
| Mavic and Inspire lines | D-Log (and D-Log M on some) | One conversion per camera |

Newer products, such as later Osmo Pocket models, get their own files. Always take the one for the camera that recorded the clip. A Mini 4 Pro LUT on Air 3 footage is close, and close is how skin tones go wrong.

## Conversion LUTs and creative LUTs: which do you need?

DJI ships two different kinds of file, and mixing them up is the most common mistake.

- **The conversion LUT** (D-Log M to Rec.709) takes the flat log image and maps it to normal contrast and colour. Every log clip needs this, or something that does the same job.
- **The colour grading LUTs** (on the Pocket 3 and Action 4) are creative looks designed to go on top of footage that is already in Rec.709. Applied straight to log, they look muddy.

So the order is conversion first, look second. [What is a LUT](https://batchtone.com/blog/what-is-a-lut) explains why the two kinds of file are made differently.

## Why does the DJI LUT fail to load?

This one costs an afternoon if you meet it cold. Some DJI `.cube` files declare their size with a tab character instead of a space:

```
LUT_3D_SIZE	33
```

Most editors read past it. ffmpeg, which sits under many video tools, rejects the file and reports it as invalid, which sounds like a corrupt download. The file is fine; it needs that character replaced with a space, or an app that reads around it. [D-Log to Rec.709](https://batchtone.com/blog/dlog-to-rec709) covers the fix in more detail, along with why the official conversion sometimes clamps the shadows harder than you might like.

## How do you apply a DJI LUT to one clip?

Every editor can do it:

- **DaVinci Resolve:** add the LUT to a node on the colour page. [Adding LUTs to Resolve](https://batchtone.com/blog/add-luts-davinci-resolve) shows where the file goes.
- **Final Cut Pro:** the Custom LUT effect, with the file chosen from its menu.
- **Premiere Pro:** the Input LUT slot in Lumetri Color.
- **DJI's phone apps:** they can restore colour on log clips too, one clip at a time.

That takes a minute per clip once the project exists. The problem is that a flight or a day with a Pocket 3 is not one clip.

## How do you apply a DJI LUT to the whole card?

This is where an editor starts to fight you. Converting forty clips in Resolve means a project, a timeline, a grade copied across, and a render queue. Doing it on a phone means forty taps and forty exports.

BatchTone treats it as a batch job, on a Mac:

1. Drop the card's folder in. Photos from the same flight go in the same batch as the clips.
2. Pick the DJI conversion LUT. Malformed DJI `.cube` files are repaired on import, so the tab problem never comes up.
3. A frame is pulled from each clip and previewed with the LUT, so you see the conversion on the actual footage.
4. Take the strength down on the clip shot into the sun that needs less. The rest stay at full.
5. Export H.264 MP4 to a folder you choose. Audio is copied untouched, and the Mac's hardware encoder keeps it quick.

Originals are never written to, and nothing leaves your Mac. If you then want a creative look on top, apply it as a second pass to the converted files. [Batch apply a LUT to video](https://batchtone.com/batch-lut-video) lists every format it reads.

Only your own files and LUT pack can show whether it fits, which is why the seven-day trial has everything unlocked: video, unlimited batches, no watermark. After that it is one in-app purchase, not a subscription.

## Common questions

### Are DJI LUTs free?

The official ones are free on DJI's download centre. Paid packs sold elsewhere are third-party looks, not DJI files.

### Can I use the D-Log LUT on D-Log M footage?

Avoid it. The curves differ, and the wrong conversion crushes the shadows or leaves the image flat. Use the file named for the profile you recorded in.

### Which DJI LUT should I use for the Osmo Pocket 3?

The Osmo Pocket 3 D-Log M to Rec.709 file from its own downloads page. The Pocket 3 grading LUTs are creative looks for Rec.709 footage, so apply them after the conversion.

### Do DJI LUTs work on photos?

A conversion LUT is designed for log video, and DJI photos are not shot in log, so it would distort them. A creative Rec.709 look can work on photos, and BatchTone applies it to stills and clips in the same batch with the same arithmetic.

## [D-Log to Rec.709: converting a whole card at once](https://batchtone.com/blog/dlog-to-rec709)

D-Log is a flat recording profile, not a look: it stores more range than a screen can show, and a Rec.709 conversion LUT maps it back to something that looks right. Converting a card means applying that one LUT to every clip, which is a batch job rather than an editing job.

## [Rec.709 LUT: which one your footage actually needs](https://batchtone.com/blog/rec-709-lut)

A Rec.709 LUT converts log or flat footage into the colour space screens actually display, so it is a technical correction rather than a style. The right one is specific to your camera's profile (S-Log3, C-Log3, V-Log, N-Log and D-Log each need their own), and the manufacturer's own conversion LUT is almost always better than a generic pack. Apply it first, as the base, then grade on top of it; doing those in the other order is what makes a conversion look wrong.

The free LUTs worth having are the conversion LUTs camera manufacturers publish for their own log formats. Free creative packs are usually an email address in exchange for files, and are worth judging on your own footage before you keep them.
